Digital Two-Way

Digital - The next-generation of two-way radio.

Professional two-way radio systems operating on licensed spectrum offer new capabilities with unlimited possibilites.  These advantages make it the clear choice for mobile organizations who require an affordable, flexible, highly reliable solution—along with the power and range available only in licensed bands.

With two-way radio, you can tailor a solution to meet your specific coverage and functionality needs. There is no need to deploy supporting infrastructure in a field situation—or to rely on often unreliable and always more costly public networks. A two-way radio solution typically pays for itself in less than 18 months compared with cellular or public carrier solutions. That means only a small up front investment and no recurring monthly fees.

The Digital Difference
Analog two-way radio use proves itself every day in countless installations around the world. But analog technology has reached its limits of innovation. Today a new platform is required to help you achieve new levels of performance and productivity. Digital technology represents that breakthrough.

Many businesses need more than the fundamental services that analog two-way radio can deliver. Licensed channels are becoming crowded and you may need more capacity. In combination with voice, you may also need access to data to improve responsiveness and productivity. Digital two-way radio provides a powerful, flexible platform that can be adapted to meet these needs and more.

MOTOTRBO Technology

MOTOTRBO™ is Motorola’s next generation of Professional Radio that is capable of analog and digital two-way communications. In addition to the standard features available with Motorola’s other analog-based products, MOTOTRBO™ brings digital enhancement to the voice quality as well as an expanded feature set to this product tier.

While operating in digital mode, MOTOTRBO™ uses a two-slot Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) air interface to transmit and receive digitized voice and air protocol control messages simultaneously. This leads to a higher quality of service (QoS) and a richer user experience with the product.

With the digital mode operation of the MOTOTRBO™ system, customers can expect end-to-end operation of advanced features and integrated applications such as text messaging, Location-Based Services (LBS), and telemetry as well as customized capabilities provided through an internal option board.

Unique MOTOTRBO System Benefits for Enhanced Productivity
MOTOTRBO offers a private, standards-based, cost-effective solution that can be tailored to meet your unique coverage and feature needs. This versatile portfolio provides a complete system of portable radios, mobile radios, repeaters, accessories and services—a complete solution. MOTOTRBO:

  • Uses Time-Division Multiple-Access (TDMA) technology to provide twice the calling capacity (as compared to analog or FDMA radios) for the price of one license. A second call doesn’t require a second repeater, saving you equipment costs.
  • Integrates voice and data to increase your operational efficiency and support integrated applications including MOTOTRBO Text Messaging Services and MOTOTRBO Location Services (GPS location tracking).

  • Provides clearer voice communications throughout the coverage area as compared to analog radios rejecting static and noise.
  • Offers enhanced battery life. Digital TDMA two-way portable radios can operate up to 40 percent longer between recharges compared to typical analog radios.
  • Enables additional functionality including dispatch data, enhanced call signaling, basic privacy-scrambling and option board expandability.
  • Provides easy migration from analog to digital with the ability to operate in both analog and digital modes.
  • Meets demanding specifications—IP57 for submersibility in water (portable models), U.S. Military 810 C, D, E and F, and Motorola standards for durability and reliability.
  • Is intrinsically safe (portable models) and can be used in locations where flammable gas, vapors or combustible dust may be present. Approved FM battery option is an IMPRES1400 mAh slim LiIon battery.
  • Utilizes Motorola’s state-of-the-art IMPRES technology in batteries, chargers and audio accessories, providing longer talk time and clearer audio delivery.
  • Is fully backed by a two-year Standard Warranty plus one-year Repair Service Advantage (US only)/ Extended Warranty (Canada only).
  • Is fully backed by at least a one-year Workmanship Warranty for IMPRES chargers and an 18-month Capacity Warranty for IMPRES batteries when used exclusively with IMPRES chargers.

Link repeaters, locations and people

IP Site Connect, a digital feature of MOTOTRBO, enables you to link up to 15 repeaters—at a single site or across multiple locations—instantly creating a reliable local- and wide-area communications network.*

Now, a user at one of your coverage locations can share business-critical voice and data with users at any of your other geographical locations, anywhere in the world. You can also create contiguous wide-area communication by linking adjoining coverage areas or eliminate the impact of physical barriers at a single site—you simply share your voice and data via an IP network using MOTOTRBO radios.

  • Network up to 15 repeaters
  • Share voice and data across geographically dispersed facilities
  • Seamlessly roam from site to site with no manual intervention or interruption, creating a contiguous coverage area
  • Eliminate the impact of many common physical barriers, such as tall buildings or mountains, by networking users together through an IP connection
  • Utilize new MOTOTRBO radios, repeaters and data applications—or existing MOTOTRBO equipment via software upgrade
  • Communicate on site and over a wide area from the same repeater
  • Monitor and manage your system via repeater diagnostics and control utility

GPS Functionality -MOTOTRBO Location Services
MOTOTRBO features an integrated GPS module that, in conjunction with a location software application, gives you the ability to track both people and assets – without cumbersome external GPS devices to install and maintain. GPS location-tracking capability can help better manage your mobile workforce, improve your response time and increase your productivity.
GPS-equipped portable and mobile radios can be configured so that dispatchers can obtain their geographical coordinates at pre-programmed intervals, on demand and in case of an emergency. MOTOTRBO Location Services software applications provide dispatchers with a real-time display of fleet activity on a customized, high-resolution, color-coded map. With MOTOTRBO Location Services, you can enjoy the benefits of location tracking with no monthly fees or cumbersome external GPS devices to install and maintain.

Text Messaging - MOTOTRBO Text Messaging Services

The MOTOTRBO Text Messaging Services allows communication between radios and dispatch systems, between radios and email-addressable devices, and to remote PC clients attached to radios.  This application allows you to utilize another form of communication for your business—whether it's the need for discreet communication or the ability to send quick text messages. This functionality enables you to focus on the business at hand. Furthermore, the dispatcher PC can act as a gateway to email, enabling messaging between email-addressable devices and radios.

MOTOTRBO Capacity Plus - MOTOTRBO Trunking

Capacity Plus is a single-site trunking solution that increases the number of users on your MOTOTRBO system. Whether you need additional voice or data communication capacity, Capacity Plus is the ideal solution to help extend communication capability throughout your organization.
